There are hundreds of websites out there, all helping you to be a better writer and get published. This is just a tiny sample of the ones I personally have found useful.

Formed in 1968 by a group of Los Angeles-based writers for children, SCBWI is the only international organisation to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children's literature. The SCBWI British Isles region offers members support, information and education at a local level, and if you are writing for children you will find it extremely useful.

Primarily aimed at children, this site is a great resource for finding out about what children read and why. Lots of competitions, quizzes, and top tips from authors.

A blog by Nicola Morgan, award-winning author of around 90 books across many genres. This blog is packed with really useful information about the art of writing and getting published. Although Nicola no longer updates this blog, the information is still there and it's well worth a visit.

NAWG can put you in touch with other writers in your area and publishes guidelines if you want to start up your own group. They publish a bi-monthly magazine, and run competitions and events, all aimed at helping you to become a better writer.
